QUILT BLOCK OF THE MONTH- MAY

FRIENDSHIP STAR QUILT BLOCK

FRIENDSHIP STAR QUILT BLOCK

Welcome Quilter’s! I am so excited to be doing the Block of the Month this year. Each month we we’ll be making a quilt block that will be put into a quilt sampler at the end of the year. There will be 12 blocks in total and some will be easy and some will be difficult. I will teach you how to make each one via video instruction. Make sure that you are following me on YouTube and are Subscribed so that you can be notified each time I upload a new video.

Fabric Needed:

I am using a fat quarter bundle that I have had laying around for a couple of years. You can use whatever you have in your stash. I recommend having a half yard of each fabric color so that you have enough fabric on hand and in case you make an error, you will still be able to make the block. It is always better to have more fabric on hand than to not. Also, I recommend having a variety of lights, darks and mediums.

About the Quilt Block:

This month we are making the Friendship Star Quilt Pattern. You can make several designs and variations with the  Star Pattern.

Quilt Block of the Month #5 is the Friendship Star. This block was one of the easiest I have done by far. It takes very little fabric, only 2 fat quarters, and I still had fabric left over. This star is unique in itself by the way it looks. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I did. I also put a picture of the quilt blocks on my quilt wall so you can see what the progress is of our sampler quilt so far. I’m getting really excited to see how cool this is going to look.

CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS:

2- 5″ Squares of Your Background Fabric

2- 5″ Squares of Your Main Star Fabric

5- 4 1/2″ Squares of Your Background Fabric
