Cutting the Prairie Point Pinwheel Baby Quilt

HOW TO MAKE A PINWHEEL BLOCK

In this tutorial I will be using the AccuQuilt Studio 2 and Dies to cut the quilt pieces.  Please note that the amount of fabric that I have noted will make 2 baby quilts.  If you want to only make one or do not wish to have left over fabric, then you will need to purchase less fabric.

The fabric I am using is called Effie’s Woods by Deb Strain for Moda Fabrics:

Accuquilt Studio 2:

https://shrsl.com/3fg8n

Yardage for 1 Quilt: (All measurements are based on finished seam.  Seam allowance has been allowed for.

1 Yard- Main Fabric (12- 10″ Squares)

1 Yard- Secondary Fabric (12- 10″ Squares)

1/2 Yard- Inner Border (2″ Border)

3/4 Yard- Outer Border (4″ Border)

3/4 Yard- Prairie Points (2.5″ Squares folded and pressed into rectangle)

1 Yard – Binding (Based on 2.5″ binding strips)

UNIFINISHED SIZES FOR CUTTING:

Main fabric squares- 10.5″

Secondary fabric squares- 10.5″

Inner Border- 2.5″

Outer Border- 4.5″

Prairie Points- 2.5″ (You will need roughly around 192 pieces) This is a guesstimate as it depends on how you place your points.

Binding- 2.5″

Backing- 42″ X 52″ – Leave about 6″ on all sides to account for shrinkage during the quilting process.  Once finished, trim the quilt down.

Finished quilt size should be approximately – 36″ X 46″

Rag Quilts for My Grandsons

May 13, 2022 By The Crafty Author

I made these rag quilts for my grandsons for Christmas. I am really happy with the way they turned out. I still need to finish the quilt for my youngest grandson but now that it is Summer, I think I’ll have to wait until Fall. These particular rag quilts are very heavy and warm. They are 100% flannel and Minky with batting in the middle. I personalized the quilts with their names and then with a message from me. I used my embroidery machine to personalize the quilts.
