Hello, friends! I am so thrilled to welcome you to the very first installment of The Monthly Maker’s Roundup! Can you believe it’s already April? The birds are chirping, the flowers are starting to peek through the soil, and my sewing room is officially overflowing with spring inspiration.
If you’ve been following along with our recent Thread Math series, you know how much I love breaking down the complicated parts of quilting into simple, bite-sized pieces. This new monthly series is all about celebrating that same spirit! Every month, I’ll be sharing a curated look at what’s happening in my studio, the trends I’m currently obsessed with, and the tools that are making my creative life just a little bit easier.
Are you ready to dive into the madness of April crafting with me? Let’s get stitching!
Springing Into New Color Palettes
One of the most satisfying parts of a new season is refreshing my fabric stash. This year, the trends for 2026 are all about grounded, earthy tones mixed with unexpected pops of brightness. I’ve been calling it "Nature’s Electric Spring."
I am currently working with a palette of Mocha Mousse, Olive Green, and Sandy Beige, but I’ve been tossing in some Electric Fuchsia to give it that modern, fresh "The Crafty Author" vibe. It is such a beautiful combination! If you’re looking to update your own stash, these colors work perfectly for easy sewing projects like table runners or throw pillows that can instantly brighten up your home.

If you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed by color picking, don’t worry! I always recommend starting with a high-quality fat quarter bundle. It takes the guesswork out of coordinating patterns and ensures your project looks cohesive from the very first stitch.
What’s On My Cutting Table?
April is the perfect time for quilting kits that help you jump right into the fun part: the sewing! Right now, I’m obsessed with reimagining traditional blocks. I’ve been playing with the Drunkard’s Path block, using those gorgeous spring florals I mentioned earlier. There is something so therapeutic about mastering those curves, and I promise, they aren't as scary as they look!
I’ve also been revisiting some of my favorite beginner-friendly designs. If you’re looking for a quick win this weekend, you have to check out my Scrap Quilt Series. It’s the ultimate way to clear out your bins and make something absolutely stunning in the process. Or, if you want something that comes together even faster, my Quilt-As-You-Go Table Runner tutorial is a total game-changer for busy makers.
"Quilting isn't just about the finished product; it's about the joy you find in every single stitch."
